Vice President Sara Duterte revealed that four politicians have already approached her wanting to join her senatorial slate for the 2028 elections — but don't expect her to be thrilled about it. In an ambush interview in Davao City on March 14, Duterte made her feelings pretty clear.

'Four already,' she said in Filipino, confirming the number of politicians who have reached out. But instead of the usual enthusiastic political alliance talk, Duterte had a different vibe: 'I am allergic to politicians right now. So i-consider lang nila ako.' Translation? They'll have to win her over, not the other way around.

The VP's blunt take on the political class isn't exactly surprising, given the turbulent relationship between her camp and the Marcos administration. With her impeachment case still making waves in Congress and the custody battle over alleged bagman Gian Carlo Madriaga dominating headlines, Duterte has plenty of reasons to keep her guard up.

Last month, Duterte officially announced she will run for president in 2028, confirming what many political analysts had long expected. Building a strong Senate slate will be crucial to her campaign strategy — having allied senators could make or break her legislative agenda if she wins Malacañang.

The big question now is: who are these four politicians, and will Sara actually let them join her team? With her trademark no-nonsense approach, the VP seems more interested in keeping transactional politicians at arm's length than building alliances for the sake of numbers. As the 2028 race heats up, expect more names — and more drama — to surface in the coming weeks.
