Alyssa Valdez reminded everyone why she remains one of the biggest names in Philippine volleyball after delivering a huge performance for Creamline and picking up the PVL Press Corps Player of the Week citation.

The Cool Smashers captain powered Creamline past Cignal in a dramatic five-set win, finishing with 22 points, 13 digs, and 13 receptions. The result sent Creamline into the qualifying round of the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference and came at a crucial point in the team’s campaign.

At 32, Valdez showed na kaya pa talaga when the pressure is highest. The performance was described as a vintage triple-double effort, with the longtime star taking control in the kind of match where leaders are expected to deliver.

She edged several other strong candidates for the weekly recognition, including Royse Tubino, Trisha Tubu, Eli Soyud, Brooke Van Sickle, and Sisi Rondina. Even in Creamline’s earlier loss to Farm Fresh, Valdez still put up solid numbers despite the absence of head coach Sherwin Meneses and teammates Jema Galanza and Bernadeth Pons.

Valdez said the run is less about proving something and more about reminding herself and the team that they are still very much in the fight. With a rematch against the Super Spikers next and an outright semifinals berth at stake, mas lalong umiinit ang spotlight for Creamline and its veteran captain.
