Tallulah Proulx Says Young Filipina Athletes Are Ready for the World Stage
Tallulah Proulx is not just celebrating a historic Winter Olympics appearance — she is also betting big on the next wave of Filipina athletes. In the Rappler report, the 17-year-old alpine skier said the new generation has the drive and courage to make its mark globally, just like the women who already opened doors before them.
Proulx made history in the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics as the first Filipina to compete in the Winter Games and the youngest athlete from Southeast Asia in that edition. She finished 52nd out of 76 in the women’s giant slalom and 50th out of 95 in the women’s slalom, results that already put her in rare territory for Philippine sports.
Speaking during the Philippine Sports Commission All Women in Sports Awards, where she received a special citation, Proulx said athletes like Hidilyn Diaz and Nesthy Petecio prove how capable Filipinos are when they believe in their goals. For her, that success story is no fluke — it is a sign that more Filipina standouts can break through across different sports.
The article also pointed to a wider youth surge, from tennis star Alex Eala to rising names in football, triathlon, taekwondo, weightlifting, track, basketball, and volleyball. Proulx said meeting fellow Filipina athletes and hearing their stories has inspired her even more, especially in sports that do not always get the brightest spotlight.
Raised and trained mainly in Utah, Proulx chose to represent the Philippines through her Eastern Samar roots. Now, after a short post-Olympics break, she is heading into more competitions with a bigger mission in mind: keep raising the Philippine flag and hopefully become part of the reason more young girls dream bigger. Ganda ng mindset, honestly.
