Sanya Lopez, Jodi Sta. Maria, Jane Oineza, and Loisa Andalio Team Up for Cross-Network Film 'Midnight Girls'
In a rare and exciting cross-network collaboration, four of Philippine showbiz's biggest leading ladies — GMA's Sanya Lopez alongside ABS-CBN stars Jodi Sta. Maria, Jane Oineza, and Loisa Andalio — are teaming up for a brand new film called 'Midnight Girls,' directed by Irene Villamor, the same director behind the blockbuster hit 'The Loved One' starring Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales.
Director Irene shared a sneak peek on Instagram showing the four stars posing under cherry blossoms in Japan, where the film is partly set. According to the director, the story follows "four Filipina entertainers chasing the same dream in Nagoya, Japan" — a sisterhood tale that's sure to hit right in the feels. The movie is set to premiere in cinemas on May 13, 2026, just in time for summer.
And here's a fun detail: the cast has been rehearsing the iconic SexBomb Girls hit "Bakit Papa" with no less than Joy Cancio, the original choreographer of the legendary Filipino girl group. Joy expressed how honored she was to be training the four stars: "It's really my honor to make these ladies. I'm so blessed."
Jodi couldn't help but joke about the unexpected dance number, saying she thought she'd already reached the peak of her career: "Just when I thought na naabot mo na 'yung pinnacle ng iyong career, meron pa pala." Sanya called it an honor to be trained by Joy, while Loisa admitted she's always been a SexBomb fan so the moves came naturally. Jane said it was literally a dream come true.
Fans are already buzzing with excitement over the announcement, with many praising the cross-network collab as a refreshing move for Philippine cinema. Network wars? Not in this movie. This is all about girl power and sisterhood, and honestly, we're here for it. Mark your calendars for May 13!
