It was a real-life action movie moment for Anne Curtis. The actress was on a flight from Milan heading to Dubai to reunite with her husband Erwan Heussaff and daughter Dahlia when things took a scary turn — a high-speed military jet appeared right beside her plane, and minutes later, the captain announced they were turning back to Italy due to airstrikes in the Middle East.

With all flights to the Middle East grounded, Anne found herself stranded in Milan while her family waited in Dubai. The tension was real — her mom Carmen took to Facebook to describe the situation as "a nightmare." Every parent's worst fear: your daughter stuck on one continent, your grandchild on another, and a war breaking out in between.

But the good news came Tuesday morning when Carmen confirmed that Anne had safely landed in Oman and was finally reunited with Erwan and Dahlia. "Keep them safe Lord till they get back to Manila!" she wrote, clearly still shaken but relieved. Anne had been in Milan for a fashion event before the crisis escalated over the weekend.

Anne's experience highlights what millions of Filipinos in the Middle East are going through right now. The Department of Migrant Workers reported that 80 to 100 Filipinos in Dubai alone have already expressed their desire to come home. The DFA estimates around 2.5 million Filipinos are currently in the Middle East region — mostly in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, with about 800 in Iran itself.

For now, Anne and her family are safe in Oman and expected to make their way back to Manila soon. It's a reminder that the Middle East conflict isn't just geopolitics — it hits close to home for OFW families and Filipinos abroad. Stay safe out there, mga kababayan.
