Quezon City Rep. Bong Suntay is officially in hot water after the House of Representatives ordered him to face the Committee on Ethics for his inappropriate remarks about actress Anne Curtis during a congressional hearing.

The controversy erupted during Tuesday's impeachment hearing against Vice President Sara Duterte, where Suntay attempted to defend Duterte's violent threats against President Marcos. His defense strategy? Comparing the VP's remarks to his own "imagination" about Curtis — saying he saw the actress in a mall and felt "sudden heat" and "desire." Yikes, sir.

San Juan Rep. Belle Zamora moved to refer the issue to the ethics panel after Laguna Rep. Ann Matibag delivered a privilege speech calling out Suntay's statements. Several lawmakers — including Gabriela's Sarah Elago, Kabataan's Renee Co, and Akbayan's Chel Diokno — also stood up to condemn the remarks, with Elago warning that failing to address such behavior "normalizes harassment everywhere."

Gender studies professor Janice Zamora-Morales from UP said Suntay's statements constitute sexual harassment — which is extra ironic since he himself co-authored Quezon City's Anti-Bastos Ordinance. "We share the same cultural meaning of what those words mean," she said, pointing out that the implications were clear to everyone.

Suntay took the floor to apologize "to those offended" but insisted there was no malice, claiming he was merely imagining "courting" Curtis. He said he's ready to face whatever consequences come his way. Given that this all happened during Women's Month, the timing couldn't be worse for the congressman.
