Filipino singer Matty Juniosa just scored a huge breakout moment after earning the golden buzzer on “Britain’s Got Talent” with his performance of Prince’s “Purple Rain.” The ABS-CBN report said the 27-year-old singer won over both the judges and the audience, who gave him a standing ovation after the performance.

Judge Alesha Dixon compared Juniosa to something instantly addictive, saying he felt like a discovery you immediately want more of. Amanda Holden also praised not just the vocals but the visible hunger and passion in his performance, telling him the audition was amazing.

KSI highlighted Juniosa’s personality onstage, saying he looked like a superstar the moment he took the mic off the stand. Simon Cowell then said the performance may have drawn one of the biggest reactions they have seen from any contestant, before the crowd loudly pushed for the golden buzzer.

Cowell eventually gave in and hit it, then told the audience that the moment was their golden buzzer too. On the show, that one-time button sends a contestant straight to the semi-finals, so malaking leap agad iyon for Juniosa in the competition.

The article also noted that Juniosa has been living in Glasgow for the past three years after migrating from the Philippines and is working part-time as a waiter. He said he has long dreamed of singing for a crowd that big and wants to finally move past seeing himself as a “singing competition loser” after joining “Idol Philippines” in 2019.
