Pinoy Pride! Three Filipina Actresses Take Home Awards at the 2026 Actors' Awards in Hollywood
Filipino representation in Hollywood just hit a major milestone — three Filipina actresses from the hit medical drama "The Pitt" took home awards at the 32nd Annual Actors' Awards (formerly SAG Awards) in Los Angeles, and the entire Filipino community is celebrating.
Kristin Villanueva, Isa Briones, and Amielynn Abellera were part of the ensemble cast that won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. The three play medical professionals in the show, which revolves around the intense 15-hour shifts at a fictional Pittsburgh trauma center — and notably highlights the massive presence of Filipino healthcare workers in the American medical system.
Villanueva and Abellera play nurses "Perlah" and "Princess," while Briones takes on the role of the controversial "Dr. Trinity Santos." In her acceptance, Briones proudly declared, "I'm the daughter of an immigrant! I'm here and I have my dad with me." Her father, veteran Filipino actor Jon Jon Briones, couldn't contain his pride either.
"It's wild because everyone in the Philippines right now are crying and their hearts are full and very proud of this little one," the elder Briones said. Both father and daughter left heartwarming messages for Filipino fans, with Isa screaming "Mabuhay!" and Jon Jon saying "Kamusta na kayo lahat? Nandito kami para sa inyo."
The win is a huge moment for Filipino representation in Hollywood, proving that Pinoy talent can shine on the world's biggest stage. "The Pitt" has been praised for authentically portraying the Filipino-American healthcare experience — and now it's got the hardware to show for it. Mabuhay indeed! 🇵🇭
