Pinoy Pride! Philippines Ranks 6th Most Polite Country in the World
The Philippines just snagged another international recognition — this time, for good manners. A global survey by cross-border digital financial services provider Remitly has named the country as the 6th most polite nation in the world.
The survey, which polled more than 4,600 people worldwide, found that 2.3 percent of respondents said Filipinos are the most polite people they've encountered. Hindi naman tayo nagulat, di ba? Hospitality runs deep in Filipino culture.
Japan dominated the politeness rankings, with a commanding 35.15 percent of respondents giving them the top spot. Canada came in second at 13.35 percent, followed by the United Kingdom at 6.23 percent. China (3.07 percent) and Germany (2.8 percent) rounded out the top five, with the Philippines close behind.
The recognition comes at a time when the Philippines is also making waves in friendliness rankings globally. Remitly's study factored in how respondents perceived the general attitude, warmth, and courtesy of people from different nations — and Filipinos clearly left a good impression.
From the classic "po" and "opo" to the warm "mano po" greeting, Filipino politeness is deeply rooted in family values and respect for elders. The result? The world notices — and apparently, they approve.
