Four Filipina actresses made history at the 32nd Annual Actor Awards (formerly the SAG Awards) held at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, taking home trophies in both TV and film categories — a proud moment for Filipino representation in Hollywood.

Isa Briones, Kristin Villanueva, and Amielynn Abellera — all cast members of the hit medical drama 'The Pitt' — won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series alongside the rest of their castmates. Briones plays Dr. Trinity Santos, while Villanueva and Abellera portray Filipino nurses Princess Dela Cruz and Perlah Alawi, respectively.

Meanwhile, pregnant Fil-Am actress Hailee Steinfeld also won for her role as Mary in Ryan Coogler's 'Sinners,' which took home Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Steinfeld was unable to attend the ceremony.

The emotional highlight of the night was Isa Briones declaring "Mabuhay!" from the stage, while her father Jon Jon Briones — a legendary theater actor himself — addressed Filipino fans: "Kamusta na kayo lahat? Nandito kami para sa inyo." Isa also noted the groundbreaking significance of 'The Pitt' featuring Tagalog-speaking Filipino nurses in the first five minutes of its premiere episode.

The show has been widely praised for finally giving Filipino healthcare workers — who make up a massive portion of the American medical workforce — proper representation on mainstream television. As Briones put it: "It's insane that medical shows have been around this long and never featured Filipino healthcare workers." With awards season recognition now in the bag, the Pinay power wave in Hollywood shows no signs of slowing down.
