PH Joins Asia’s Eurovision Debut, ABS-CBN To Pick the Country’s Entry

The Philippines is officially set to join the first Eurovision Song Contest to be staged in Asia, putting the country into a new regional music spotlight. Organizers including the European Broadcasting Union, Voxovation, and S2O Productions announced the lineup, with the event scheduled for November in Bangkok, Thailand.
According to the report, ABS-CBN has been tapped as the Philippine broadcaster that will choose the country’s representative. As of publication, the network had not yet made its own formal announcement, but the contest website already identified it as the local partner in charge of selecting the entry.
The new competition is expected to gather broadcasters from at least 10 Asian countries, including the Philippines, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, South Korea, Vietnam, and host country Thailand. Organizers also said more participating markets could still be announced in the coming months.
The launch is notable because an Asian spin on Eurovision had been discussed for years but never fully pushed through before. The report also highlighted the timing: the announcement comes less than two months before the main Eurovision Song Contest returns to Vienna in May.
For local music fans, this opens the door to a high-profile international stage that mixes performance, identity, and national pride. Kung mapili nang maayos ang Philippine act, this could turn into a big pop-culture moment and a fresh flex for OPM on a wider Asian audience.
