Palace Shuts Down Rumors That Marcos Was Rushed to the Hospital — 'He Is Well and Working'
Malacañang has firmly denied rumors swirling online that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was rushed to St. Luke's Medical Center on Saturday, saying the Chief Executive was simply in a private meeting and very much working kahit weekend pa.
Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro issued the clarification in a text message to reporters amid circulating claims on social media about the President's health. 'The President was in a private meeting with PMS this morning. He is well, healthy, and working even on a Saturday,' Castro said.
The health rumors are not entirely surprising given that Marcos revealed last month that he was diagnosed with diverticulitis — an inflammation of pouches that can form in the digestive tract. The condition had forced him to scale back public appearances for about two weeks to rest and recover.
During that earlier period of reduced visibility, Malacañang consistently maintained that Marcos continued to work and monitor government operations from behind the scenes. Castro did not provide further details about the Saturday meeting with the Presidential Management Staff.
The Palace's swift response reflects growing sensitivity about the President's health status, especially as the country faces major developments including the US-Israel strikes on Iran and the ongoing ICC proceedings involving former President Duterte.
