If you're heading out for the EDSA anniversary rallies or just going about your Wednesday, Pagasa has some welcome news: fair weather is expected across the entire Philippines today, Wednesday, February 25. The easterlies — warm winds from the Pacific — are dominating the weather pattern, bringing humid and warm conditions nationwide.

Weather specialist Chenel Dominguez confirmed in the 5 AM briefing that no low-pressure area has been detected forming inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. That's good news for the next several days — no storms, no weather disturbances on the radar. The amihan (northeast monsoon) has weakened and isn't affecting any particular area at the moment.

Dominguez did note that the amihan may resurface by the weekend, pero its effects will no longer be as strong. This means the cool breezes that Luzon residents enjoyed during the past few weeks are fading, replaced by the warm and sticky air that signals summer is just around the corner.

The weather bureau warned, however, that despite the generally fair skies, isolated rain showers and thunderstorms can still pop up in the late afternoon or evening — the typical afternoon convective rain pattern during the transition from cool to warm season. So if you're out late today, keep an umbrella handy just in case.

For the thousands of people gathering at EDSA today, the weather couldn't be more cooperative — warm but not unbearably hot, with minimal rain risk during the morning and early afternoon hours. At least Mother Nature is showing up for the 40th anniversary of People Power, even if the government didn't give everyone a day off.
