Pablo Draws the Line: SB19 Says AI Can’t Just Hijack an Artist’s Identity
SB19 leader Pablo made his position clear on the growing use of artificial intelligence in music: innovation is welcome, but not when it copies or exploits artists without permission. Speaking during the press conference for the group’s new album, he said AI becomes dangerous when it starts using an artist’s work and identity without consent.
In the GMA Entertainment report, Pablo said he believes AI is a powerful tool and that innovation is important for the industry. But he drew a hard line when that technology starts taking creative output, likeness, or artistic identity from people who built their craft from the ground up. For him, that is not just unfair—it is unethical and should be illegal.
He stressed that artists spend years shaping who they are, what they sound like, and how they present themselves to the world. Because of that, Pablo said creators should have sole control over whether their identity or work can be used in AI systems. Hindi puwedeng basta kuha lang, then call it progress.
At the same time, SB19 is not rejecting technology outright. Pablo said regulation is the key, with stricter rules needed from companies and developers so artists are protected while innovation still moves forward. It is a more balanced stance than simple anti-AI panic: use the tool, sure, but put real guardrails around it.
The comments landed on the same day SB19 released 'Wakas at Simula,' a 24-track album that includes songs from its EP trilogy plus new material, including collaborations with JOLIN and BE:FIRST. So while the group is entering a big new chapter musically, Pablo also used the spotlight to push a message many artists now want heard louder: tech should expand creativity, not steal it.
