A woman was arrested in Manila after police said she was part of an online extortion and robbery setup that targeted a foreign national. According to the report, the suspect allegedly demanded P2 million and sent threats through a messaging app, kaya nagreklamo na ang biktima sa mga awtoridad.

The Philippine National Police Cyber Response Unit then carried out an entrapment operation along Apacible and Perez Streets. That operation led to the suspect’s arrest on Friday, March 20, after authorities moved in on the alleged payoff arrangement.

Investigators said they recovered marked money, boodle money, a mobile phone, and identification cards from the suspect. Those items are now part of the evidence as police build the case tied to the reported intimidation and extortion attempt.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said police will not allow technology to be used as a weapon for threats and extortion. He also reminded the public not to panic when receiving threatening messages online and to report them quickly so authorities can respond faster.

The case is another reminder that digital harassment can jump offline fast when money is involved. For police, the message is simple: kung may pananakot online, don’t negotiate alone — document it, report it, and let authorities handle the trap before the situation gets worse.
