The legal team of Anne Curtis has officially responded to the lewd remarks made by Quezon City Representative Bong Suntay during a House of Representatives hearing — and they're not holding back. Law firm Gorriceta Africa Cauton and Saavedra called Suntay's comments "inappropriate and unacceptable" in a statement released Friday evening.

"No woman — whether a public figure or a private citizen — should be publicly spoken about in a way that reduces her to the subject of sexual commentary," the statement read. It noted that such language is "degrading" and has no place in any forum, especially in the halls of Congress where officials are expected to maintain respectful public discourse.

The controversy erupted on Tuesday when Suntay, during deliberations on the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte, made a cringe-worthy analogy involving Anne Curtis. He recounted seeing the actress at Shangri-La hotel and described his 'desire' in graphic terms, using it to defend Duterte's earlier "designated survivor" remark. His comments were immediately called out by other committee members and later struck from the congressional record.

Curtis' lawyers pointed out the irony that these remarks surfaced during National Women's Month, citing the Safe Spaces Act and the Magna Carta of Women as laws that reflect the country's commitment to treating all women with dignity. Anne's sister Jasmine Curtis-Smith and their mother Carmen have also publicly condemned Suntay's remarks, with Jasmine stressing the issue goes beyond their family — it's about all women.

Suntay has since apologized, and even his wife Sheila Guevara Suntay released a statement distancing herself and their children from the lawmaker's words. But the damage is done — and Curtis' legal team made it clear: "Let this moment serve as a reminder that women deserve respect everywhere."
