A married couple from Gen. Natividad, Nueva Ecija who had been missing for five days were found dead — their decomposing bodies stuffed in sacks and dumped in an irrigation canal in Cabanatuan City. The gruesome discovery has shocked the local community and sent investigators scrambling for answers.

The victims have been identified as Romeo Delos Trinos, 65, and his wife Mely, 55. Residents of Barangay Cabu in Cabanatuan City started complaining about a foul smell coming from the irrigation canal, which led to the discovery of the two bodies already in an advanced stage of decomposition.

According to the couple's caretaker, Romeo and Mely were last seen on March 6, when they left aboard their "kolong-kolong" — a motorized tricycle commonly used in rural Nueva Ecija — and said they were headed to the town of Dilasag. They were never heard from again.

Police later recovered the couple's kolong-kolong in Barangay Platero, but it had been tampered with — the license plate and side mirror were missing, suggesting the killers tried to cover their tracks. Authorities believe robbery may have been a motive, but the investigation is still ongoing.

The couple's child is reportedly working in Saudi Arabia and has been notified. Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the case, including checking CCTV footage along the couple's last known route. Anyone with information is urged to contact local authorities.
