Marcos Declares Special Non-Working Days Across 11 Towns and Cities in March — From Pampanga to Mountain Province
President Marcos has signed a series of proclamations declaring special non-working holidays in various localities across the Philippines for late February through March. The declarations, authorized through Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, cover 11 different celebrations — from charter anniversaries to traditional festivals.
In the Cordillera region, Tadian in Mountain Province gets March 6 off for the Ayyoweng Di Lambak Ed Tadian Festival, while Bauko in the same province celebrates the Begnas di Bauko Festival on March 13. Zamboanga del Norte's Gutalac municipality also gets March 6 for its 4th Araw ng Gutalac celebration.
Several cities are marking milestone anniversaries: Tanauan, Batangas celebrates its 25th Cityhood Anniversary on March 10, while Tabaco, Albay observes its Charter Day and 25th Cityhood Founding Anniversary on March 24. The Province of Masbate celebrates a whopping 125th Founding Anniversary on March 18.
Other holidays include Norala, South Cotabato (March 10 for its founding anniversary), Kawayan in Biliran (March 19 for its Charter Anniversary), and Canlaon City in Negros Oriental (March 19 for the Pasayaw Festival 2026). Tayug in Pangasinan rounds out the list with its founding anniversary on March 17.
These local holidays mean government offices, schools, and some private businesses in the affected areas will be closed on their respective dates. Workers who report on these days are entitled to an additional 30% of their daily wage. If you're planning to travel to any of these areas around those dates, expect festivities — and possibly limited government services.
