Good news para sa lahat ng workers — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has officially declared Friday, March 20, 2026 as a regular holiday nationwide in observance of Eid'l Fitr, the feast marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. That means a long weekend is coming, and you better start making plans now.

The declaration was made through Proclamation No. 1189, announced after Marcos joined members of the Muslim community and leaders from across the country at the Grand Iftar held in Malacañang. The event reaffirmed the government's respect for the traditions and contributions of Filipino Muslims during this sacred season.

Eid'l Fitr is celebrated by Muslims worldwide for three days following Ramadan, Islam's holy month that calls for spiritual reflection through praying, fasting, and abstaining from sinful behavior. This year, Ramadan started on February 19, and the declaration recognizes the significance of the celebration as families and communities prepare to mark the end of their month-long fast.

The Presidential Communications Office also extended greetings to the Muslim community in the Philippines and around the world. Regular holidays mean that employees who don't report for work still get paid, while those who do report are entitled to double their daily rate — so it's a win-win either way.

With the long weekend approaching, expect heavy traffic on major highways as Filipinos take advantage of the break. Eid Mubarak to our Muslim kababayans! 🌙
