The Department of Public Works and Highways has warned the public against scammers who are pretending to be senior officials of the agency in messages sent to potential victims. The department said the fraudsters are using the names of DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon and other officials to make the messages look legitimate.

Based on the advisory, the scheme is not just about random spam. The fake messages are allegedly being used to trick people into sending money, giving away personal information, or extending favors under the false impression that the request came from someone inside the department.

To show the public what to watch out for, the DPWH included screenshots of the supposed scam messages in its advisory. The move was meant to help people spot the style and tone of the fraudulent communications before they get pressured or deceived.

The agency urged the public to stay alert and skeptical, especially when a message claims to come from a high-ranking government official and asks for money or sensitive details. Kahit mukhang formal pa ang message, the department said people should verify first and never rush into a transaction.

Anyone who encounters suspicious messages may report them through the DPWH Facebook page, by email at [email protected], through hotline 165-02, or via Viber at 09616847084. The warning is simple but important: kung may duda, report agad and do not engage.
