MacBook Air M5 Is Here — And PH Prices Start at ₱72,990
Apple just dropped the new MacBook Air M5, and Philippine pricing is already confirmed. The 13-inch model starts at ₱72,990 (₱65,990 for students), while the 15-inch version goes for ₱85,990 (₱78,990 for education). Both will be available soon at local Apple stores and authorized resellers.
Under the hood, the M5 chip packs a 10-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU, each with a Neural Accelerator designed for faster AI tasks. Apple claims it's up to four times faster than the previous generation — a bold claim, but the spec sheet backs it up with 153GB/s memory bandwidth for smoother multitasking.
Storage gets a welcome upgrade too — the base config now starts at 512GB (double the previous entry point), with options going all the way up to 4TB. The SSD is twice as fast, and the new N1 wireless chip brings Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity. Battery life remains solid at up to 18 hours.
The laptop runs macOS Tahoe with Apple Intelligence features baked in — think smarter translations, reminders, and shortcuts. Continuity features like iPhone Mirroring and the Phone app on Mac are also supported. It comes in four colors: Sky Blue, Midnight, Starlight, and Silver.
For Pinoy tech enthusiasts and professionals looking for a lightweight powerhouse, the MacBook Air M5 is shaping up to be a serious contender. The question is whether the ₱72,990 starting price — while competitive globally — hits the sweet spot for the Philippine market. Stay tuned for local availability dates.
