Netflix Philippines went "bigger and bolder" as it unveiled its 2026 slate of original content during the "Next on Netflix Philippines" event held at the Grand Hyatt Manila in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Five originals — three series and two films — were announced, featuring some of the biggest names in Philippine entertainment and promising to deliver the kind of high-production Filipino content that has been gaining traction globally.

The crown jewel of the lineup is Erik Matti's long-awaited "BuyBust: The Undesirables," a full-scale dystopian action series that picks up the story from the 2018 film "BuyBust." Anne Curtis reprises her role as Nina Manigan, fighting for humanity in a gritty, high-stakes world — now with Gerald Anderson joining the cast. Anne said Nina is motivated by "all of the above" — revenge, justice, and fighting for what she believes in. This one is going to be intense.

But perhaps the most buzzworthy news was the first-ever teaming of Kathryn Bernardo and James Reid in a series titled "Someone, Someday." The series follows a woman scarred by heartbreak who builds a modern dating app — and in the process rediscovers love herself. Directed by Chad Vidanes and Dolly Dulu, it also stars Maja Salvador. Kathryn admitted she's still "warming up" to the character, while James, seven years removed from his last teleserye, confessed to having nerves. Laki ng excitement ng mga fans — bago at hindi inaasahang pag-pares.

Dominic Zapata's "The Master Cutter," starring Dingdong Dantes, offers a slick action-drama premise: a former scout ranger living a double life as a tailor in Baclaran by day and a bounty hunter by night. The series is a collaboration between Netflix and GMA and premieres on Netflix on April 17 — 72 hours before its free TV airing — making it available across Southeast Asia as well. Dingdong called the role a dream project.

Rounding out the lineup are two films including the coming-of-age romance "18th Rose," headlined by Xyriel Manabat and Kyle Echarri and directed by Dolly Dulu. The 2026 slate shows just how seriously Netflix is investing in the Philippines as a content powerhouse — drawing from the deep well of Filipino talent across GMA and ABS-CBN to create content that speaks to Filipinos both at home and abroad. Abangan ang mga ito — ang 2026 ay magiging taon ng Pinoy content sa streaming world. Source: Philstar.com, About Netflix, Tatler Asia, ABS-CBN Entertainment
