Kapamilya Meets Kapuso: Jodi Sta. Maria, Sanya Lopez Team Up for 'Midnight Girls' — Coming This May

In what might be the most exciting cross-network collaboration in recent Philippine showbiz history, ABS-CBN stars Jodi Sta. Maria, Loisa Andalio, and Jane Oineza are teaming up with GMA's Sanya Lopez for the upcoming film 'Midnight Girls.' Directed by Irene Emma Villamor — the same director behind the blockbuster hit 'The Loved One' — the movie is set to premiere in cinemas on May 13, 2026.

The film tells the story of four Filipina entertainers chasing the same dream in Nagoya, Japan. Director Villamor shared a first look at the cast posing under cherry blossoms in Japan, instantly generating excitement among fans of all four actresses. The announcement — which featured the cast dancing to SexBomb Girls' iconic hit 'Bakit Papa' — quickly went viral on social media.

The dance rehearsal video featured Joy Cancio, the original SexBomb Girls choreographer, training the four stars. "It's really my honor to make these ladies. I'm so blessed," Joy said. Jodi, meanwhile, joked about how she thought she'd already peaked in her career: "Just when I thought na naabot mo na 'yung pinnacle ng iyong career, meron pa pala." Sanya called it an honor to be trained by Joy herself.

Loisa admitted she's a longtime SexBomb fan — "Idol ko po talaga ang SexBomb, kaya familiar na rin po talaga ako" — while Jane couldn't contain her excitement: "Saka marinig ko pa lang na 'Bakit, Papa,' okay, game! It's my dream come true!" The chemistry between the four leading ladies is already evident, and fans are hyped for what's shaping up to be a feel-good sisterhood film perfect for summer.

The cross-network nature of the project is a big deal in Philippine entertainment, where Kapamilya (ABS-CBN) and Kapuso (GMA) stars rarely collaborate.
