Veteran broadcast journalist Jessica Soho has been named one of PeopleAsia Magazine's People of the Year 2026, capping over four decades of award-winning journalism that has made her one of the most trusted voices in Philippine media. The Kapuso journalist was among 11 honorees recognized for leading in their respective fields and championing their advocacies.

PeopleAsia described this year's honorees as 'beacons of hope who inspire others to do not what is easy, but what is right.' Soho was cited specifically for her excellence in journalism — more than 40 years of hard-hitting investigations into social issues that continue to shape public discourse. Hindi naman siguro surprising given her track record.

In true Soho fashion, she remained humble about the recognition. 'Salamat but it's also humbling kasi this adds more pressure sa trabaho to keep doing the best that you can,' she said. She also noted that the award only heightens her sense of responsibility to the Filipino people, many of whom still await answers on corruption and rising cost of living.

The veteran journalist also shared advice for today's media practitioners, stressing that content quality remains the real battleground. 'Ang importante pa rin, ang laban pa rin sa content. Pagalingan pa rin ng content,' she said, adding that the values learned in school and in the newsroom must never be abandoned regardless of platform.

Other honorees included Fr. Flavie Villanueva, fashion designer Francis Libiran, singer Martin Nievera, and DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon, among others. San Miguel Corporation's Ramon Ang received the Lifetime Achievement award. Soho currently hosts GMA's 'Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho' and was previously inducted into the Rolling Stone Philippines Hall of Fame in 2025.
