Veteran broadcaster Jessica Soho has picked up another major honor after being named one of PeopleAsia Magazine’s “People of the Year 2026.” The recognition places her among personalities being celebrated as symbols of hope and moral courage, not just fame or popularity.
The GMA Entertainment report said Soho was recognized in the media category, with PeopleAsia citing her four decades of work in journalism. That long run has made her one of the country’s most trusted and most decorated broadcast journalists, and the new award adds another heavyweight line to that already loaded résumé.
In an interview with Balitanghali, Soho said she was thankful for the recognition but also honest about the pressure that comes with it. She described the award as humbling and said every new honor adds to the responsibility of doing the job well, which is a very Jessica answer, real talk lang.
She also stressed that her work is far from done. Soho said there are still many issues that need to be exposed and many questions from the public that still deserve answers, especially at a time when life is getting harder and public frustration over corruption remains high.
Beyond the celebration, Soho used the moment to remind fellow journalists that content still matters most, but it has to be grounded in accuracy, verification, and the values taught in school and the newsroom. She continues to host Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho every Sunday night on GMA.
