Singer-songwriter Jace Roque is set to release a new single titled “Pagbangon” on April 10, and the track carries a deeply personal story behind it. Instead of just teasing another music drop, Roque framed the song as a reflection of recovery after a painful loss.

He said the single was written while processing the death of his uncle, actor and director Boy Roque, who had also been a father figure, mentor, and unofficial manager in his life. That made the song less about generic inspiration and more about surviving a real emotional hit.

Roque described “Pagbangon” as the story of his rebirth, saying he used pain and despair as fuel to reignite his passion. Imbes na malunod sa lungkot, he said he chose to stand back up and keep pushing because his uncle had prepared him to keep moving even without him around.

The production side also stayed close to home. Roque arranged, mixed, and mastered the track himself, while ABS-CBN Music creative head Jonathan Manalo served as producer. That hands-on process gave the song an even more personal stamp from writing to final sound.

Beyond his own experience, Roque said he hopes the single lands as an uplifting anthem for people dealing with dark times. Coming from an artist with family ties to names like Gino Padilla and Luke Mijares, “Pagbangon” looks positioned as both a tribute and a statement that he is still moving forward.
