Most parts of the Philippines are looking at generally fair weather on Sunday as easterlies continue to dominate conditions across the country. PAGASA said there is no low-pressure area being monitored either inside or outside the Philippine area of responsibility for now.

Weather specialist Veronica Torres said the easterlies, or warm and humid winds coming from the Pacific, are expected to stay in place for the next two to three days. That means Metro Manila and the rest of the archipelago may see partly cloudy to cloudy skies for much of the day.

Hindi ibig sabihin na zero rain na. PAGASA said isolated rain showers or thunderstorms can still pop up within the next 24 hours, so residents are still being advised to stay alert for sudden downpours, especially late in the day.

The bigger concern may be the heat. PAGASA said the heat index could climb to 40 degrees Celsius in Zamboanga City and Cotabato City, placing those areas under the extreme caution category. In Metro Manila, the heat index may range from 33 to 35 degrees Celsius, including in Quezon City and Pasay.

For commuters and families planning their Sunday, the setup is basically mainit, maalinsangan, and mostly dry, with only localized thunderstorms possibly interrupting the day. Officials are still reminding the public to hydrate, limit direct sun exposure when possible, and keep an eye on local weather bulletins.
