PAGASA says Filipinos should expect more sticky, mainit na panahon over the next three days, with hot and humid conditions likely to persist across the country. The weather bureau said the setup is being influenced by the ridge of a high-pressure area and the easterlies.
Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio explained that the ridge of the high-pressure area is extending over Northern Luzon, while the easterlies are affecting the rest of the Philippines. That combination usually supports generally fair weather, but not necessarily a rain-free day.
PAGASA said much of the country may still see partly cloudy to cloudy skies, plus isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon or evening. So yes, maaraw and maalinsangan for many areas, but sudden rain is still very much on the table.
The agency also warned that severe thunderstorms can still trigger flash floods or landslides in vulnerable locations. That means residents in flood-prone or mountainous areas should not ignore darkening skies just because the day started hot and dry.
As of Monday morning, PAGASA said it was not monitoring any low-pressure area or tropical cyclone within or near the Philippine Area of Responsibility. For now, the bigger daily concern is heat, humidity, and the chance of localized but intense thunderstorms.
