The Department of Health is warning Filipinos not to take the summer heat lightly, saying children and elderly people are especially vulnerable to heat-related illness and heat stroke.
Speaking to state-run PTV, Health Secretary Ted Herbosa urged the public to stay hydrated, avoid staying too long in very hot areas, and get medical help fast if symptoms start showing.
Herbosa stressed that the rising temperatures can quickly become dangerous for people whose bodies have a harder time regulating heat. That is why the DOH is putting extra emphasis on watching over seniors and young kids during peak daytime hours.
Simple moves matter, kumbaga basic pero lifesaving: drink plenty of water, limit direct sun exposure, and do not ignore dizziness, weakness, or other warning signs when the weather gets brutal.
The advisory comes as hotter conditions continue across the country, with health officials pushing prevention before emergency cases pile up. The message from DOH is clear: ingat sa init, especially for the most vulnerable at home.
