Heart Evangelista Spent Her 41st Birthday With Abandoned Lolas and Lolos — and It Was Beautiful
While most celebrities celebrate their birthdays with lavish parties and luxury trips, Heart Evangelista chose to spend her 41st birthday season doing what she does best — giving back. The actress, fashion icon, and philanthropist visited Anawim Lay Missions Foundation, Inc. in Rodriguez, Rizal, a home for poor and abandoned elderly Filipinos.
In an Instagram Reel that quickly went viral, Heart was seen spending quality time with the facility's elderly residents — sharing warm conversations, distributing thoughtful gifts and essential supplies, and just being present. It's the kind of content na nakaka-tug sa puso, and fans were quick to praise her for keeping it real.
"Starting my birthday season with gratitude. So thankful for friends who show up, help out, and give with heart," she wrote in the caption, also thanking her friends who joined the visit. It wasn't a one-time publicity stunt either — this has been Heart's long-standing birthday tradition for years. She also recently visited Tahanang Mapagpala in Malolos, Bulacan, another facility for forgotten elderly.
On her actual birthday, February 14, Heart kept things simple and intimate — celebrating at home surrounded by close friends and loved ones. No grand ballroom, no celebrity-packed event. Just genuine connection, which honestly makes her even more admirable.
Heart has consistently used her platform and influence through the Shin Shin Foundation to advocate for elderly care in the Philippines. In a country where many senior citizens are abandoned by their own families, her efforts serve as both a reminder and a challenge to everyone: may we all be a little more like Heart when it comes to caring for our lolas and lolos.
