A Grade 9 student identified only as 'Alias Jonathan' was brutally beaten by multiple attackers right in front of a barangay hall in Sampaloc, Manila, on Thursday afternoon — and the motive? Selos. Jealousy over a love triangle that escalated into a violent assault caught on video.

The incident happened past 12:30 PM at Barangay 520 in Sampaloc. CCTV footage showed two male suspects running toward the victim and punching him repeatedly. Even after Jonathan fell to the ground, they continued the assault. Several female students tried to intervene, pero hindi sila napigilan.

It gets worse. A woman in a red shirt was seen running toward the scene, but instead of helping, barangay officials say she picked up an object that had fallen from one of the attackers. When questioned, she claimed it was a vape — but the victim's companions insisted it was an ice pick. Another student later arrived and allegedly kicked the victim in the face before the group fled.

Barangay kagawad Yolanda Correa explained the backstory: the ex-boyfriend couldn't accept the breakup and threatened to have his barkada beat up the person he was jealous of. "Sabi nila talagang gusto nila tuluyan. Kaya lang, maagap si Kapitana," Correa said — meaning the barangay captain's quick response may have saved Jonathan's life.

Three of the four suspects were voluntarily surrendered by their own parents, with the fathers themselves admitting their children are "pasaway." The victim remains hospitalized with injuries to multiple parts of his body. Authorities are still searching for the suspect who kicked him in the face. In a city where schools are packed close together, barangay officials say student altercations are unfortunately common — but this one crossed every line.
