Goodbye Tanggol: Batang Quiapo Ends March 13 After 799 Episodes and 3 Years of Primetime Dominance
After three years, 7 seasons, and a whopping 799 episodes, FPJ's Batang Quiapo is officially signing off. Coco Martin himself confirmed that the mega-hit ABS-CBN series will air its final episode on March 13, 2026 — exactly three years to the day since it first premiered on February 13, 2023. Parang kahapon lang when Tanggol first walked the streets of Quiapo.
The show, a television adaptation of the 1986 Fernando Poe Jr. film, has been a consistent ratings juggernaut since day one. It carried the enormous pressure of following FPJ's Ang Probinsyano — Coco's previous series that ran for seven years. Director Darnel Villaflor admitted the stakes were sky-high: "Mataas 'yung pressure kasi syempre coming from a seven-year streak ng Ang Probinsyano. But every episode, we give it our best."
Director Malu Sevilla, who has worked with Coco for years, couldn't help but praise the actor's dedication. "It's no walk in the park," she said of working with Martin. "But the fulfillment you get as an artist and co-creator iba. The professionalism, discipline, and immense talent he brings to the table ibang klase talaga." She recalled spotting his potential from their very first project together.
The final weeks have been emotionally charged, with key character deaths shaking loyal viewers. Director Richard V. Somes likened the team's journey to finding an oasis in the desert — the real challenge was consistently raising the bar in each episode, and he believes they delivered. The show will also get a special thanksgiving episode on ASAP, giving fans one last celebration.
But Coco Martin fans shouldn't worry — the King of Primetime isn't going anywhere. A new Coco Martin series is already lined up to replace Batang Quiapo in the same time slot. For now, though, the nation is preparing to say goodbye to Tanggol. Samahan niyo siya hanggang sa finale, mga ka-tabloid.
