Kung pakiramdam mo mas malamig kaysa usual, tama ka. Metro Manila just recorded its coldest temperature of the year so far — a chilly 17.1°C at the PAGASA Science Garden in Quezon City this Sunday morning.

The state weather bureau confirmed the reading as the lowest temperature during this year's Northeast Monsoon or Amihan season. But Quezon City wasn't even the coldest — Baguio City took that crown with a bone-chilling 9.4°C, followed by Malaybalay, Bukidnon at 15.2°C, and San Ildefonso, Bulacan at 16.0°C.

Other stations recording notably low temperatures included Tanay, Rizal (16.8°C), Casiguran, Aurora (17.2°C), Basco, Batanes (17.5°C), Abucay, Bataan (17.6°C), Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (18.4°C), and Laoag City, Ilocos Norte (18.5°C).

PAGASA said the Amihan is expected to continue affecting large parts of the country, bringing cloudy skies, light rains, and cooler temperatures throughout the day. So break out the jackets, blankets, and hot champorado — this cold spell isn't over just yet.

For Filipinos more accustomed to sweating it out, this kind of weather is practically winter. Many netizens took to social media to celebrate the rare coolness, with some joking that Manila finally felt like Baguio for a day.
