Fire Destroys Three Houses Near UP Diliman Early This Morning — Two Residents Injured, Only a Washing Machine Saved
A fire broke out in a residential area along CV Francisco Street in Barangay UP Campus, Quezon City around 5 AM Friday, destroying three houses and injuring two residents who suffered burns to their legs and feet while scrambling to escape.
Residents tried their best to fight the flames before firefighters arrived, pero the fire spread too quickly. The Bureau of Fire Protection dispatched a total of 21 fire trucks to the scene, and the blaze was declared out after about 40 minutes.
At least five families were left homeless by the fire. In a heartbreaking detail, only a washing machine and a speaker were saved from the three gutted structures — everything else was consumed by the flames.
The two injured residents were given medical attention at the scene. Authorities are now preparing an evacuation center for the displaced families, though the number of affected individuals hasn't been finalized.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the estimated cost of damage has yet to be determined. Fires in densely packed residential areas remain a constant threat in Metro Manila, especially during the dry months. The BFP urges residents to check electrical connections and avoid overloading outlets.
