Expect Cloudy Skies and Scattered Rain Across the Philippines on Monday — PAGASA Warns of Flash Floods From Easterlies
If you're heading out on Monday, bring an umbrella. PAGASA's 4 AM forecast says the easterlies are affecting the entire country, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms to Metro Manila and the rest of the Philippines.
The weather bureau warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms caused by the easterlies — the warm, moist winds blowing from the Pacific that typically bring afternoon and evening rain during the dry season transition months.
Northern Luzon will experience moderate winds and moderate seas, while the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon can expect lighter conditions with slight to moderate coastal waters. The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
Sunrise on Monday, March 2 is at 6:13 AM, and sunset is at 6:04 PM. The days are getting noticeably longer as we move deeper into March — a small consolation for the gloomy weather ahead.
For commuters and outdoor workers, the advisory is straightforward: be prepared for sudden downpours, avoid flood-prone areas during heavy rain, and stay updated through PAGASA's official channels. The rainy conditions are expected to persist through the first part of the week.
