End of an Era: FPJ's Batang Quiapo Signs Off March 13 After 3 Years of Dominating PH Primetime
One of the longest-running and highest-rated teleseryes in recent Philippine TV history is about to take its final bow. FPJ's Batang Quiapo, starring Coco Martin as the beloved character Tanggol, will air its last episode on March 13, 2026 — exactly three years after it first premiered on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida lineup.
Coco Martin himself confirmed the show's ending, but fans don't have to grieve for long — the actor will immediately follow up with a new series called "Coco Martin's Sigabo," where he'll star alongside Julia Montes. Taping for the new show is already underway, and early behind-the-scenes glimpses have been shared as early as March 5.
The show's directors have been reflecting on the incredible three-year journey. Director Malu Sevilla, who has worked with Coco for years, described the experience as deeply rewarding. "It's no walk in the park. But the fulfillment you get as an artist and co-creator, iba. The professionalism, discipline, and immense talent he brings to the table, ibang klase talaga," she shared.
Director Darnel Villaflor acknowledged the immense pressure of following up "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano," which ran for a record seven years. "Mataas yung pressure kasi syempre coming from a seven-year streak. But every episode, we give it our best," he said. Meanwhile, actress Via Antonio, one of the show's cast members, publicly praised Coco Martin as the finale approaches.
The series, based on the 1986 film that originally starred the legendary Fernando Poe Jr., consistently topped TV ratings throughout its entire run. A special thanksgiving segment on ASAP is also being planned to celebrate the show's legacy. For Coco Martin and his CCM Film Productions, the end of Batang Quiapo isn't a goodbye — it's just the start of the next chapter.
