PAGASA said the easterlies will bring cloudy skies and rain showers to several parts of the country on Wednesday, with eastern and southern areas expected to feel the wetter conditions first. Based on GMA News Online’s report, the weather system is affecting a wide stretch of the archipelago.
The agency specifically flagged Bicol Region, Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar for cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. In those places, moderate to at times heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods or landslides, so local residents are being urged to stay alert.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country are not totally in the clear either. PAGASA said these areas may still see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, and severe thunderstorms could still bring sudden flooding or slope failures in vulnerable spots.
As for sea conditions, forecast winds over Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao will be light to moderate and moving from the east to northeast, with slight to moderate coastal waters. The rest of Luzon will also see light to moderate winds, but from the southeast to northeast, with similar sea conditions.
In short, hindi ito all-day storm signal situation, but it is the kind of weather setup that can quickly turn risky once thunderstorms build up. With sunrise at 5:57 a.m. and sunset at 6:08 p.m., commuters, boat operators, and residents in flood-prone areas may want to keep one eye on the sky and another on local advisories.
