The 'Drag Race Philippines' community is mourning after drag artist Misua, who was set to appear in the show’s upcoming fourth season, died before the season could even premiere. It’s a heartbreaking update for fans who were just waiting for the next batch of queens to be revealed.
ABS-CBN News reported that production company World of Wonder said Misua 'passed away in her sleep' on the morning of April 2. The cause of death was not immediately made public, and the company said it has been in contact with Misua’s family, who requested privacy.
In its statement, World of Wonder described Misua as a talented queen who brought light, artistry, and joy to the people around her. The company also said it paused production for Season 4 so the cast and crew could be cared for and supported during an incredibly difficult moment.
Misua was supposed to be part of a franchise that has become a major platform for Filipino drag since launching in 2022. The local version of the global hit has helped push drag further into mainstream entertainment while giving performers a bigger space for visibility, creativity, and advocacy.
With Season 4 still awaiting its premiere date, the mood around the show has shifted from excitement to grief. For now, fans and fellow performers are left remembering Misua not for a competition result, but for the artistry and presence that made people believe she had something special to bring to the stage.
