The government says fresh diesel supply is already on the way, with Executive Secretary Ralph Recto announcing that a firm order for 1.04 million barrels has been secured. Recto said the supply move came through oil diplomacy led by energy officials, including Energy Secretary Sharon Garin. The update follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s earlier statement that the Philippines has enough crude oil supply to last until June 30, 2026. Government figures cited in the report showed the country had around 45 days of fuel reserve as of March 20, with extra procurement being lined up to strengthen that stockpile.

The article also noted that more than 700,000 barrels of Russian crude had arrived on March 23 for Petron. That delivery, plus the newly ordered diesel shipment, shows how urgent the government’s sourcing effort has become as the Philippines remains heavily dependent on imported oil.
