Aray sa Gasolinahan: Diesel Nears P150/L, Gasoline Hits P100 in Metro Manila
Fuel prices in Metro Manila surged again, with diesel nearing P150 per liter and gasoline hitting around P100.
Motorists are feeling another major hit this week after fuel prices climbed to fresh highs in Metro Manila, with diesel now nearing the P150-per-liter mark and gasoline touching around P100 per liter at several stations. The latest increases took effect on April 7 and quickly pushed pump prices into levels that many commuters, drivers, and businesses will find painful.
Based on benchmark prices cited in the source report, Shell diesel was estimated at P148.60 per liter on April 8, while Petron was at P147.60 and Jetti at P147.40. Other stations were also deep in the P140 range, showing just how sharply diesel costs have risen in a matter of weeks.
Gasoline prices also moved up hard, with RON95 estimated at P100.20 per liter at Shell and about P99 per liter at several other major retailers including Petron, SeaOil, PetroGazz, and CleanFuel. Kerosene was even higher, with listed prices above P163 per liter at some stations.
The source said the latest round of hikes was driven by continued volatility in global crude markets linked to conflict in the Middle East. Even with some staggered price adjustments among oil firms, the overall effect has been the same for consumers: higher transport costs, tighter household budgets, and more pressure on businesses already dealing with expensive logistics.
For ordinary Filipinos, this is the kind of price shock that spreads fast beyond the gas station. It can affect delivery fees, public transport expenses, and the cost of everyday goods, making fuel one of the biggest consumer pain points to watch right now.
