Dagdag-Kaso Na Naman: Sara Duterte Hit With 4th Impeachment Complaint Over Unexplained Wealth
Just one day after announcing her 2028 presidential bid, Vice President Sara Duterte is facing yet another impeachment complaint — the fourth one filed against her. The verified complaint was received by the House of Representatives on Wednesday evening and transmitted to Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III on Thursday.
Filed by lawyer Nathaniel G. Cabrera and endorsed by Deputy Speaker Paolo Ortega V and House Committee on Human Rights Chairman Bienvenido Abante Jr., the complaint zeros in on allegations of unexplained wealth and undisclosed assets. Specifically, it claims Duterte failed to fully disclose bank accounts, properties, and large cash movements in her Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALNs).
The complaint also cites a sworn affidavit from an alleged Duterte “bagman” who claims to have transported millions of pesos in cash — allegedly packed in duffel bags — following the encashment of confidential and intelligence funds allocated to the OVP and the Department of Education. “Those must be reconciled with SALN disclosures,” Ortega said.
Senior Deputy Majority Leader Lorenz Defensor added fuel to the fire, pointing to Duterte’s previous admission that she spoke to someone willing to kill President Marcos. “No Vice President should ever say that,” Defensor said. “That will always be an impeachable offense and a betrayal of public trust.”
The new complaint unfolds against the backdrop of the shattered UniTeam alliance between the Marcos and Duterte camps. With Sara now a declared presidential candidate facing impeachment, the political stakes couldn’t be higher. Under the Constitution, the House has the exclusive power to initiate impeachment proceedings.
