It's official and it's painful: Caltex, Shell, Seaoil, Cleanfuel, and Petro Gazz have announced they will hike gasoline prices by ₱1.90 per liter, diesel by ₱1.20, and kerosene by ₱1.50 starting 6 AM on Tuesday, March 3. This marks the eighth consecutive week of gasoline increases and the 10th straight week for diesel and kerosene.

The price adjustments will take effect at 6 AM Tuesday for most firms, except Cleanfuel which starts at 4:01 PM the same day. Other oil companies are expected to follow with similar adjustments throughout the day.

The cumulative damage in 2026 is now staggering. Year-to-date, gasoline has risen by a net ₱4.80 per liter (before this week's hike), diesel by ₱8.20, and kerosene by ₱6.20. Adding Tuesday's increases, the total for the year hits ₱6.70 for gasoline, ₱9.40 for diesel, and ₱7.70 for kerosene.

The DOE's Oil Industry Management Bureau had projected increases of 'up to over ₱1 per liter' for gasoline this week, but the actual hikes came in even higher — driven by the weekend's dramatic escalation in the Middle East after US-Israeli airstrikes killed Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei.

For everyday Filipinos, the relentless price increases are hitting where it hurts most — jeepney fares, delivery costs, grocery prices, and electricity bills. With global oil prices still spiking and the Strait of Hormuz effectively blocked, there's no relief in sight for the foreseeable future.
