Transport group Manibela said it will hold a two-day nationwide transport strike this Thursday and Friday as fuel prices continue to climb. The group is framing the action as a direct protest against petroleum costs that drivers and operators say have become impossible to absorb.

Speaking for the group, Manibela spokesman Mar Valbuena said the planned strike will not be limited to one segment of public transport. He said members from transport network vehicle services, UV Express operators, truckers, and motorcycle taxi drivers are expected to join the protest.

If the action pushes through at full scale, commuters and cargo movement could both take a hit. The report said the group itself warned of major disruption to public transportation and deliveries as operators across sectors unite behind the same complaint: mataas na masyado ang presyo ng krudo.

Manibela has long been calling for stronger government intervention, arguing that current fuel costs are unsustainable not only for drivers but also for ordinary passengers who eventually shoulder fare pressure. The looming strike adds another layer of stress at a time when broader oil market tensions are already feeding public concern.

For commuters, this is the kind of week to plan early and expect possible delays. For policymakers, the threat is also a blunt signal that transport relief measures may need to move faster if they want to prevent a wider economic headache from spilling onto roads nationwide.
