Motorists are set for another painful round of fuel price increases on Tuesday, April 7, with several oil companies announcing major hikes that could push diesel prices close to shock levels in some areas. The latest adjustments come as the Middle East conflict continues to squeeze global oil supply and keep pressure on the Philippine market.

Based on advisories cited by Rappler, Shell will raise diesel prices by P19.80 per liter, gasoline by P5.90 per liter, and kerosene by P9.10 per liter effective 6 a.m. Tuesday. Petron will increase diesel by P18.80 per liter, gasoline by P4.90 per liter, and kerosene by P8.10 per liter, also starting at 6 a.m. SEAOIL will implement a P17.95 per liter hike for diesel, P4.90 for gasoline, and P8.10 for kerosene.

Jetti Petroleum is also set to raise diesel by P18.60 per liter and gasoline by P5.40 per liter, although its price change will take effect on Friday, April 10. Rappler reported that this is already the 13th straight week of gasoline price hikes and the 15th consecutive week of increases for diesel and kerosene.

Industry estimates cited in the report said diesel could climb to around P150 to P170 per liter this week, depending on location and retailer. The Department of Energy’s previous price bulletin for Metro Manila showed regular diesel already ranging from P110 to P150.30 per liter, while gasoline prices were at P82.50 to P105.60 per liter before this latest increase.

For many Filipinos, this means another hit on commuting, delivery, food, and household costs, with transport and logistics expected to absorb the pressure first. As the energy crisis drags on, consumers will likely keep watching pump prices closely in the days ahead.
