Bato Manhunt Update: CIDG, NBI Check Alleged Angeles Hideout
CIDG and NBI teams checked an alleged Angeles City hideout linked to the search for Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, but he was not found.
Authorities checked a house in Angeles City, Pampanga on Wednesday morning as part of the continuing search for Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, who is facing an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court.
According to GMA News, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the National Bureau of Investigation led the operation inside a subdivision in Barangay Balibago. Barangay chairman Joseph Ponce said the search happened around 6 a.m., but Dela Rosa was not found there.
The property was reportedly linked to an uncle of Senator Robin Padilla. Local authorities said the operation was connected to Dela Rosa’s exit from the Senate and the search for vehicles allegedly tied to his escape, but those vehicles were also not located during the visit.
NBI director Melvin Matibag said authorities have been checking several identified locations based on reports that Dela Rosa may be there. He said the search teams are validating leads involving people who had contact or connections with the senator, while the NBI and PNP continue using tracking teams and available technology.
GMA also reported that the CIDG is expected to brief the media Thursday on its recommendation to file obstruction of justice complaints against Padilla, along with details of Wednesday’s operation. Source: GMA News
