Motorists heading between Taguig and Parañaque just got a major break after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the opening of the Cavitex-C5 Southlink Segment 3B on Monday. The newly opened stretch covers about two kilometers and links key parts of the two cities through a six-lane expressway connection.

According to the report, the biggest immediate impact is travel time. A trip that could drag on for around one and a half hours in heavy traffic can now be cut down to about 15 minutes, which is a huge quality-of-life upgrade for commuters and drivers na araw-araw bumabyahe sa route na ito.

The president said around 36,000 vehicles are expected to use the segment, while Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon said the project arrives at a crucial moment as high fuel prices continue to squeeze household budgets. Shorter travel time means less idling, less stress, and potentially less fuel burned on the road.

The project is part of the broader 7.7-kilometer Cavitex-C5 Southlink corridor being rolled out in phases. Government officials also said the toll for Segment 3B will be waived from March 30 to April 30, a move meant to help travelers during the Holy Week rush and ease transport costs habang mainit pa rin ang pressure sa fuel prices.

Beyond faster trips, officials said the new link should help decongest roads south of Metro Manila and improve access for motorists coming from Cavite toward business and residential hubs. For many commuters, this one feels less like a ribbon-cutting photo op and more like a legit everyday win.
