Art in Every Pour: Marikina's Coffee and Crafts Festival Is the Chill Weekend Plan You Didn't Know You Needed
Looking for something to do this weekend? Marikina City has you covered. The city launched its four-day Arts, Crafts, and Coffee Festival at Marikina Freedom Park, and it's running until February 22. Themed "Art in Every Pour," the event celebrates National Arts Month with a mix of live music, spoken word, art tutorials, and — of course — really good coffee.
Mayor Marjorie Ann Teodoro led the kickoff ceremony, explaining that last year's coffee fest was cut short by a typhoon. "That is why we immediately brought it back," she said. "And because it is Arts Month, we are joined by different excellent artists in our city." The festival serves as a platform for Marikina's homegrown talents and small creative businesses.
Visitors can expect coffee-tasting sessions led by local baristas, handmade crafts and accessories from Marikina vendors, specialty coffee blends, drawing tutorials, and live performances. Coffee shops open daily at 8 AM while arts and crafts booths start at 10 AM — perfect for a lazy Saturday morning na may konting art appreciation.
The festival is part of Marikina's broader push to support its growing creative economy and local coffee scene. City officials say events like this help small businesses reach new customers while deepening community connections. It also falls under Proclamation 683, which recognizes February as National Arts Month in the Philippines.
Marikina has quietly become one of Metro Manila's most vibrant cultural hubs — from its famous shoe industry to its emerging arts and coffee scenes. If you're anywhere near the area, drop by Freedom Park before the festival wraps up tomorrow. Your Saturday self will thank you. ☕🎨
