Alden Richards has confirmed that filming for “Love, Siargao,” his upcoming project with Nadine Lustre, will begin this April on the island itself. In a report aired on “24 Oras,” the actor said the team would stay in Siargao for a little over a month to shoot the film.

According to Alden, the project is meant to be more than a romance. He described it as a love letter to Filipinos that also highlights the beauty of the country, especially Siargao, while telling a strong love story. Medyo tourism meets kilig, but with a big-screen-style setup.

The story follows Jao and Kara, two strangers with very different outlooks whose paths cross as they deal with modern love. The film also leans on the so-called “Siargao Curse” lore — the idea that people who go to the island either never want to leave or end up falling in love there.

Before the cameras officially roll, Alden said he planned to spend Holy Week with his family and take time for reflection. GMA’s report added that “Love, Siargao” is being produced through a partnership among Viu Philippines, Viva Communications, and GMA Network, with a release on Viu expected later this year.

For fans, this is the real signal that the Alden-Nadine pairing is no longer just promo noise — tuloy na talaga ang shoot. And because it’s being filmed in Siargao for more than a month, expect the island itself to become one of the project’s biggest stars too.
