5th Alarm Inferno Erupts Along NIA Road in QC — Second Massive Fire in Metro Manila in One Day
Another massive fire rocked Metro Manila on Friday night as a blaze tore through a residential area along NIA Road in Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City — just hours after a separate 4th alarm fire displaced hundreds of families in Tondo, Manila. This one escalated even further, reaching 5th alarm status and triggering a Task Force Bravo response from the Bureau of Fire Protection.
The fire was first reported at 9:01 PM and spread with alarming speed. Within two minutes, it was raised to 2nd alarm. By 9:12 PM, it hit 3rd alarm. Ten minutes later, 4th alarm. And by 9:44 PM — less than 45 minutes from the first report — the blaze had reached the dreaded 5th alarm, the highest level before a general alarm is declared.
By 11:18 PM, the BFP National Capital Region elevated the response to Task Force Bravo, meaning additional fire stations from neighboring areas were called in to help battle the flames. The fire was so massive that it forced the closure of NIA Road and BIR Road to all types of vehicles as fire trucks crowded the area.
As of press time, the BFP had yet to release the total number of houses destroyed, any casualties, or the cause of the fire. Grabe lang — dalawang malaking sunog in one day sa Metro Manila. The Tondo fire earlier that morning displaced over 200 families, and now this QC blaze may have affected even more.
Fire season in the Philippines typically peaks during the dry months of March through May, and with the summer heat intensifying, fire authorities have been urging residents to be extra vigilant. Friday's back-to-back infernos are a grim reminder that densely packed residential areas remain extremely vulnerable. Stay safe, mga ka-tabloid.
