Three people are dead after a horrific collision between a speeding van and a motorcycle with sidecar in Barangay Buayaen, Bayambang, Pangasinan on Saturday, February 21.

According to police, the 36-year-old van driver — allegedly under the influence of alcohol — rear-ended the motorcycle, sending it crashing into a concrete electric post and a residential fence. The motorcycle driver, his 21-year-old back rider, and the van driver himself were all rushed to a hospital in the area but were declared dead on arrival. Both vehicles were badly damaged.

Police are urging motorists to observe traffic rules and avoid driving under the influence. Lasing at nagmamaneho — it’s a deadly combination that keeps claiming lives on Philippine roads.

In a separate tragedy, the Philippine Coast Guard recovered the body of an eight-year-old boy who drowned in the Amburayan River in Barangay Quintarong, Bangar, La Union on the same day. Authorities reminded parents and guardians to closely watch their children near rivers and other bodies of water.

Two devastating incidents in one weekend — a stark reminder that road safety and water safety remain serious concerns in the provinces. Ingat lagi, mga kababayan.
